Union Hand-Roasted Coffee

The Union Hand-Roasted Best Newcomer for the heat was Edita Chordacevic – Head Barista at Federation Coffee in London

Peter Grosvenor-Attridge who was Best Newcomer for Heats 1 and 2 relinquishes this spot but has a further chance to gain it back at the Semifinal in London

The Top 20 baristas after the conclusion of Regional Heat 4 will progress to the Semifinal of the 2013 UK Barista Championships which will take place on Saturday 27 February at The London Coffee Festival

Regional Heat 3 Results

Estelle Bright (Heads Barista at Caravan) not only took the award for Best Cappuccino but has taken the overall lead in this years UK Barista Championships with a score of 592.5.

Will Corby (Coffee Hunter at Mercanta), who missed competing in 2012 due to injury, was awarded Best Espresso and Best Signature Drink and took second place.

London based John Gordon – Operations Manager at Square Mile Coffee Roasters took the award for third place.

*John was originally awarded first place but a subsequent review of the scoresheets found that a time penalty hadn’t been taken into account.

The Top 20 has been amended to reflect the correct scores.

Regional Heat 4 – hosted by Café Trade

The next (and final) heat in the 2013 UK Barista Championships takes place at Chester Racecourse on 31March/01 April as part of the Chester Food, Drink and Lifestyle Festival, hosted by Café Trade.

UK Coffee Events Update – some events are almost full

The introduction of online registration has proven itself to be hugely successful so far. We have almost filled a number of UK Coffee Events categories for 2013!

To make sure you don’t miss out on a place please register online at www.ukcoffeeevents.com

There are currently places available at all UK Barista Championships Regional Heats in Exeter, Newcastle, Bury St Edmunds and Chester.

Volunteer and Judges Registration is also being managed online.

UK Coffee Events Regional Heat 3 Announcement

UK Coffee Events is pleased to advised that Bury St Edmunds based coffee roaster Butterworth & Son has been chosen as the host for Regional Heat 3 of the 2013 UK Barista Championships.

Regional heat 3 will be held at The Apex, Charter Square, Bury St Edmunds on 05 and 06 March 2013.

SCAE UK Event Coordinator Jamie Banwell said “The venue is absuloutely superb and will allow the baristas to showcase their skills to the wider public. Being centrally located in Bury St Edmunds means we will be able to engage with the public and demonstrate the skills of talented local and visiting baristas.”

Registration for this regional heat of the 2013 UK Barista Championship is now open. Entry has been set at £25 and registration will be via a link placed on www.ukcoffeeevents.co.uk

Judges Training and Calibration is scheduled to take place at Masteroast in Peterborough- 7th – 8th January 2013. Anyone wishing to certify as a UK Coffee Events Judge is invited to register their interest by emailing Jamie Banwell jamie@scaeuk.com
